Our Story

I started Drift & Drawl because I kept noticing something most anglers overlook.

Some of the best fishing water in the country isn’t on public lakes. It’s the small ponds you drive past every day — tucked behind barns, sitting in quiet pastures, or hidden just beyond a tree line.

The kind of places that look like they haven’t seen a lure in years.

Like most anglers, I spent years fishing public lakes. While those waters can be great, they’re often crowded and heavily pressured. Meanwhile, I’d drive through the countryside and see pond after pond that looked untouched.

I kept wondering the same thing:

Why does it feel like great fishing is harder and harder to find?

The truth is, it isn’t always harder to find. Most anglers just don’t realize that many landowners are open to allowing responsible fishermen access to their ponds.

The problem is that most people approach it the wrong way.

Showing up unannounced, sneaking onto private land, or treating property without respect only closes doors for everyone. Landowners care deeply about their land, and rightfully so.

What they value most is respect.

Over time I started learning the right way to approach landowners, introduce myself, and build trust. When you approach people the right way, it’s surprising how often the answer can be yes.

Some of my best fishing memories have come from quiet farm ponds that most people drive past without ever thinking twice about.

That’s why I created Drift & Drawl.

I wanted to help anglers discover those overlooked opportunities while also encouraging a respectful approach to private land and the people who own it.

Drift & Drawl isn’t about shortcuts or sneaking into places you shouldn’t be.

It’s about learning how to earn access the right way.

Because when you do, you often find something special — quiet water, healthy fish, and the kind of fishing experience that’s getting harder to find.

Tight lines,
